This project focused on improving interior accessibility to better accommodate the homeowners needs. The existing doorway was significantly undersized and limited safe, independent use of the space. Our work included widening the doorway, installing a new accessible door, and thoughtfully modifying the existing tile flooring to ensure a seamless, finished result that blends naturally with the home.

Scope of Work Details

🛠️ Selective Demolition & Preparation

• Removed the existing narrow interior door, trim, and frame

• Carefully opened the adjacent wall to allow for a wider doorway

• Removed and modified existing tile flooring at the doorway to accommodate new framing

• Protected surrounding floors and finishes throughout demolition

🧱 Framing Modifications

• Reframed the wall to create a wider, accessible doorway

• Installed new structural framing to support the enlarged opening

• Ensured framing met applicable building and accessibility standards

🚪 Door & Trim Installation

• Installed a new wider interior door suitable for wheelchair and assisted access

• Installed new casing and trim to match existing interior finishes

• Adjusted door swing and hardware placement for ease of use

🧩 Tile Flooring Modifications

• Carefully removed existing tile as required for framing changes

• Installed new tile to infill and extend flooring through the widened opening

• Matched alignment, grout, and transitions with existing tile

• Maintained smooth, level floor transitions for safe accessibility

🧽 Drywall, Patch & Finish Work

• Installed new drywall at modified wall sections

• Taped, mudded, and sanded all seams for a smooth finish

• Prepped walls for paint

🎨 Paint & Final Touches

• Painted all disturbed areas to blend seamlessly with existing walls

• Reinstalled or adjusted baseboards as needed

• Completed final detailing for a clean, polished appearance
